OnePlus 16 was officially presented on October 12, 2026. It became the main feature of the new flagship display with a refresh rate of 165 Hzwhich, according to the company, is supported at the level of the entire system. In compatible games, the frequency can reach 185 Hz. The smartphone also received a processor Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6a 200 MP main camera and a battery with a capacity of 9000 mAh. At the same time, the new product has become significantly more expensive compared to the previous generation. In China, the starting price of the OnePlus 16 is 5,699 yuan ($851) — about 42.5% more than it cost OnePlus 15 at the beginning of sales.

OnePlus 16 received a display with a frequency of 165 Hz
The main focus of the presentation was the fourth-generation Oriental Display, developed by OnePlus together with BOE. The panel uses the new X4 emitting material and has the following characteristics:
- Diagonal: 6.78 inches.
- Matrix type: LTPO.
- Resolution: 1.5K.
- Update frequency: up to 165 Hz in normal use.
- Maximum frequency in compatible games: up to 185 Hz.
According to the president of OnePlus China Li Jie, to work at such frequencies requires special hardware support. He claims that the OnePlus 16 is currently the only smartphone capable of delivering the claimed system-wide display mode. This is an important difference from smartphones that support an increased refresh rate only in certain applications or games. However, the actual frequency will depend on the software, screen mode and support of the specific game. OnePlus also says that after using the new display, it will be difficult for users to go back to screens with a lower refresh rate. However, this is a marketing claim, not the result of independent research.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and special gaming chips
OnePlus 16 is equipped with a processor Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 combined with the Fengchi game engine. To maintain performance under load, the Glacier cooling system is provided. The company also uses three specialized chips that are responsible for individual smartphone functions:
- P4 — image processing;
- G3 — network functions;
- T3 — processing of touch commands.
Such an architecture should help distribute the load between the main processor and specialized components. For games, this can be important during long sessions, when the smartphone must simultaneously provide high performance, quick response to touches and a stable network connection. However, 185Hz support alone does not guarantee an appropriate frame rate in every game. This requires optimization by the developers, and the result will also depend on the complexity of the graphics and the temperature of the device.

200 MP camera and three modules on the back
The main camera of the OnePlus 16 received a sensor with a resolution of 200 MP. It was joined by a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle module and a 50 MP periscopic telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. The front camera also has a resolution of 50 MP.
| Cell | Characteristics |
|---|---|
| The main one | 200 MP |
| Ultra wide angle | 50 MP |
| Periscopic telephoto camera | 50 MP, optical zoom 3× |
| Frontal | 50 MP |
The high resolution of the main sensor potentially offers more options for framing and photo processing. The periscope module should provide optical zoom without the losses characteristic of conventional digital zoom. However, the number of megapixels alone does not determine the quality of photos. A full evaluation of the camera requires independent tests that take into account detail, dynamic range, performance at night and image processing.

9000 mAh battery and body protection
Another notable characteristic of the OnePlus 16 was the battery capacity 9000 mAh. The smartphone supports wired charging with a power of 100 W and wireless charging with a power of 50 W. A large battery can be especially useful for games with high refresh rates, which tend to put a lot of stress on the CPU and display. However, the actual autonomy will depend on the brightness of the screen, network signal, running applications and mode of use. Among other features of the new product, the manufacturer notes:
- protection according to IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K standards;
- ultrasonic fingerprint scanner;
- a separate button for artificial intelligence functions;
- symmetrical stereo speakers.
The list of IP standards includes various tests for resistance to dust and water. However, the presence of these ratings does not mean that the smartphone can be immersed in water or subjected to any liquid exposure without restrictions.

How much does OnePlus 16 cost: prices in dollars and hryvnias
In China, the OnePlus 16 is available in four memory configurations. According to the official rate of the NBU on October 13, 2026, the starting price of the smartphone is approx UAH 38,300or close to $851.
| Configuration | Price in China | Approximately in dollars | Approximately in hryvnias |
|---|---|---|---|
| 12 GB RAM + 256 GB | 5699 yuan | $851 | UAH 38,300 |
| 12 GB RAM + 512 GB | 6499 yuan | $971 | UAH 43,650 |
| 16 GB RAM + 512 GB | 7199 yuan | $1075 | UAH 48,350 |
| 16 GB RAM + 1 TB | 8199 yuan | $1225 | UAH 55,050 |
For comparison, the starting price of OnePlus 15 was 3,999 yuan — about $597, or UAH 26,850 at the same exchange rate. So, the base price of the new generation in China has increased by approx 42.5%. It is important to note that these amounts are only a recalculation of Chinese prices at the official exchange rate. These are not official prices for Ukraine. If the OnePlus 16 is sold through importers, the actual cost may be higher due to logistics, taxes and sellers’ markup. As of the time of preparation of the material, the official Ukrainian price of OnePlus 16 has not been announced.
Will the OnePlus 16 be released outside of China?
Prospects for an international launch remain uncertain. According to the information provided, OnePlus has announced that it will not release new products in Europe. If this statement applies to the OnePlus 16, an official European launch, particularly in the Czech Republic, is unlikely. At the same time, this does not exclude sales through importers or foreign online stores. However, in this case, buyers will need to separately check the support of the required mobile communication frequencies, warranty conditions, software compatibility and service availability. OnePlus also reported sales growth of 44% in 2025 and 18% in 2026. According to the company, more than 68% of gamers who use very high frame rates prefer its smartphones. However, without a published methodology, these numbers should be taken as the manufacturer’s own statistics.
Is the OnePlus 16 worth the increased price?
OnePlus 16 combines a display with a refresh rate of 165 Hz, gaming mode up to 185 Hz, a powerful processor, three main cameras and a battery of 9000 mAh. According to its characteristics, the smartphone is aimed at users who value gaming performance, autonomy and shooting capabilities. However, the roughly 42.5% increase in starting price compared to its predecessor makes the question of cost particularly important. The final assessment can be given after independent tests of the display, performance, cameras and autonomy. Another key question remains for Ukrainian buyers — whether the model will go on sale outside of China and how much it will cost, taking into account imports.
