Xiaomi 18 Pro Max may become the company’s first smartphone with significantly closer integration with the Apple ecosystem. According to XiaomiUIin HyperOS 4 are tested AirDrop-similar file sharing between Xiaomi smartphones and Apple devices, as well as synchronization of photos, files and notifications.
If these capabilities make it to the final version of the system, it will be easier for Xiaomi owners to transfer data to iPhone, iPad and Mac. At the same time, Xiaomi has not yet officially announced the new feature, so its specifications and the list of compatible devices may still change.
Xiaomi is testing its own AirDrop counterpart
The most notable new feature announced by XiaomiUI is a file sharing feature reminiscent of Apple AirDrop. It is currently being tested on the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max. Potentially, it will allow easier transfer of photos and other files between the Xiaomi smartphone and Apple devices. For example, the user will be able to take a photo on the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, and then quickly transfer it to an iPhone, iPad or Mac without the usual intermediate methods of sharing. It is not yet known whether the function will work directly over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, similar to AirDrop, or whether Xiaomi uses its own protocol. The company has not yet disclosed technical details. The main thing is this is still a test feature and not an officially introduced feature of HyperOS 4.
HyperOS 4 can synchronize Xiaomi with Apple
According to the source, the integration could be broader than simple file sharing. XiaomiUI reports sync testing:

- notifications
This can be especially useful for people who use a Xiaomi smartphone with a Mac or iPad. For example, it will be easier to transfer photos from a smartphone to an Apple computer, and files and notifications can become available on different devices without the need to constantly switch between services. It is not yet clear whether this is full two-way synchronization or only specific data transfer scenarios.
Smart Share can work with Apple computers
Another direction of testing is related to the function Smart Share. According to XiaomiUI, it can provide a closer interaction between the Xiaomi smartphone and Apple desktop devices. This potentially applies to both Mac computers and iPads. For users who do not want to completely switch to one ecosystem, this compatibility can be an important advantage. Previously, owners of Android smartphones often had to use third-party services or cloud storage to transfer files between the phone and Apple equipment. If Xiaomi implements the announced capabilities at the system level, some of these limitations can be bypassed.
Xiaomi 18 Pro Max became the main test device
At this very moment Xiaomi 18 Pro Max most closely associated with new features. However, this does not mean that all features will be available exclusively on this smartphone. Likewise, there is no information yet on which other Xiaomi models will receive integration with Apple after testing is complete. As functions are developed within HyperOS 4older versions of the shell most likely won’t get them in the same way.
