Nubia has quietly launched the Nubia V80 Design, an entry-level phone that is now on sale in parts of Asia; it borrows the look and feel of the latest iPhones but is aimed at a much lower price point, making it an interesting budget option. The move was announced alongside Nubia Air almost without any fanfare. Read the original report.

The design echoes premium phones, but the price doesn't
The V80 Design rear camera panel and right-side LED flash clearly reflect the style iPhone 17 Pro from Apple.
While the exterior looks high-end, the components and sticker price put this device in the budget category.
Display and camera settings
The phone uses 6,75-inch Full HD display with update frequency 120 Hz and a peak brightness of up to 1000 nits, providing a bright and smooth image for its class.
The 16-megapixel selfie camera is located in a punch-hole cutout on the front panel.
The rear panel houses the main 50-megapixel sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor; the third ring is added purely for symmetry and does not contain an additional camera.

Performance, battery and software
The V80 Design is powered by the T7280 chipset from Unisoc (two Cortex-A75 cores and six Cortex-A55 cores) with Mali-G57 graphics, paired with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB permanent memory – enough for everyday use.
It comes with the Android 16-based MyOS 16 operating system.
Powered by a 5,000 mAh battery with 22,5W fast charging. The phone also features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a single speaker, two microphones, and a USB-C port.

It is noteworthy that Nubia has retained 3,5mm headphone jack next to the USB-C connector.
Additional features, colors and price
Nubia has added a short-range feature called Linkfree, which allows compatible devices in close proximity to exchange texts and calls via Bluetooth without relying on cellular coverage.
The V80 Design is available in Midnight Black, Pale Amber, Celadon Cyan and Peach Fuzz and is splash and dust resistant as standard IP64K.
Prices in Asia are aggressive: in the Philippines, the 4GB/256GB model costs around 5800 Philippine pesos (~$100), and the 8GB version costs around 6500 Philippine pesos (~$110). In Malaysia, an 8GB device costs MYR570 (~$140).
For those who want an iPhone-style aesthetic without paying a premium price, the V80 Design combines an attractive design, a quality screen, and modern software at a very low price.
