Korean consulting Brandstock company announced that the Galaxy mobile phone from Samsung Electronics has held the top spot for 12 consecutive years. The Brandstock Top Index (BSTI) consists of 1000 points. In the rating, Samsung Galaxy mobile phones in 2022 scored 937,6 out of 1000 points, taking first place.
Samsung may lose first place in the global mobile phone market
This is good news for Samsung, as it is expected to lose the top spot in the global mobile phone market to Apple in the fourth quarter of 2022 due to weak demand and recession in many economies. Samsung managed to increase its shipments by 3,9% compared to the previous quarter to a global mobile phone market of 64,2 million units. In terms of share, Samsung managed to get 1,4% growth in the global mobile phone market in the third quarter of 2022.
The Samsung Galaxy S22 series has received good reviews all over the world. According to the Korea Economic Daily, the Galaxy S22 Ultra was chosen as the best invention of 2022 by the American magazine Time. Korean Air jumped 11 spots to No. 11 on the list, while Hana Tour jumped from No. 40 last year to No. 32 this year. Online shopping brands also saw stiff competition, with companies such as Coupang, Gmarket, Auction and 11th Street falling in the rankings. IT-related brands also suffered, with Naver falling from third to fourth and Google from ninth to tenth.
